Welcoming Kathy Meck to the Alliance Team

Introducing Kathy Meck, Senior Director of Development and Communications

We are excited to welcome Kathy Meck, our new Senior Director of Development and Communications, who has recently moved to Colorado to join the Alliance for Collective Action.

From Philadelphia, Kathy held previous nonprofit leadership positions with Broad Street Love, Families Forward Philadelphia, the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation, Bethesda Project, and Center for Literacy. Kathy’s expertise lies in thoughtful, strategic planning and development of efficient practices that fuel effective fundraising and awareness-building in both the short- and long-term. She takes pride in the matchmaking process—finding the right philanthropic opportunity for the right partner—and does so successfully through research, active listening, attention to detail, and ethical storytelling.

Kathy holds a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential, and was recognized by Billy Penn in their 2015 list of Who’s Next: Givers, as one of 15 young Philadelphians shaping the city’s philanthropy sector. Kathy earned a certificate in editing from Temple University; a certificate in training, facilitation, and consulting from the Center for New Leadership at Marlboro College; a master’s degree in public administration from Kutztown University of PA; and two bachelors’ degrees from Drexel University in economics and international area studies.

When not working alongside the awesome Alliance team, you will find Kathy running, hiking, writing, reading, enjoying live music, and spending quality time with her gremlin-looking terrier mix, Uma.

AFCA: What interests you about The Alliance?

KM: What interests and energizes me most about The Alliance is a shared vision that human made systems can function in harmony with the natural world. I believe this to my core and will approach the work with tenacity and kindness.

AFCA: Why did you decide to join us?

KM: It took me a long time to understand what healing meant in my own life. Now that I’ve contemplated it, I know my own healing cannot exist without the natural world guiding me. I joined the Alliance to help steward the natural world–to promote a regenerative future that benefits us all–and I’m inspired to take on this work collaboratively (with all of you!). I often feel deeply connected to the seasons in that, as the natural world around us changes, as do our own cycles of being. We shed our leaves–the habits and people that no longer serve us–and grow new lushness through cycles of self-exploration and regeneration. I can’t imagine living a life without these natural cycles of learning, let-go, and growth.

Welcome, Kathy! We are thrilled that you are joining us.
